Service Description
An ECG test, or electrocardiogram, non-invasive test record electrical activity of the heart to detect irregularities and assess cardiac health. Indication: • Chest pain/ discomfort • Shortness of Breath/ Dyspnea • palpitation • syncope • Weakness or fatigue. • Assess CAD/ Arrhythmias • Fast pulse How do I get ready for an Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG)? • Don’t stop any medications without asking your provider. • No special preparation required. • Inform your healthcare practitioner of all medications you use and if you have a pacemaker. What happens during the procedure? • After explaining the process to you, your healthcare practitioner will ask if you have any questions. • Electrodes will be placed at certain spots on the chest, arms, and legs to get you ready for the test. • The electrical activity of the heart is then measured, interpreted, and printed out. No electricity is sent into the body. • Once the test is over, the technologist will remove the ECG electrode. Then, you good to go. What happens after the test? No special care required, you can return to your regular activities and diet. Your healthcare provider might give you additional instructions following the procedure, depending on your situation. A cardiologist will interpret the test and send their final impression to your healthcare provider.
