Holter monitor it is non-invasive way to monitor your heart’s activity. At Medical Cardiac Canadian center, we offer Holter Monitor services to track your heart rhythm for an extended period. Our clinic provides comprehensive cardiac care, with a focus on advanced technology and personal attention. The Holter Monitor is a small, wearable device that records your heart’s electrical activity, helping us diagnose any potential issues. Indication: • Chest pain/ discomfort • Shortness of Breath/ Dyspnea • Post myocardial inflation • Assess CAD/ Arrhythmias • dizziness/ lightheaded •Fainting •Heart failure How do I get ready for a Holter Monitor? • Inform your healthcare practitioner of all medications you use and if you have a pacemaker. • Shower or bathe just prior to your appointment. • Do not apply lotions or oil to your skin. What happens during the procedure? • After explaining the process to you, your healthcare practitioner will ask if you have any questions. • For patients with chest hair, please note that it will be necessary to shave the areas where the sensors will be attached. • Your chest will be cleaned or shaved so electrodes can adhere optimally to your chest skin. • Electrodes will be attached to your chest. The Holter monitor will be connected to the electrodes with 3 wires. What should you do when wearing a Holter monitor? • Turn on and wear the Holter monitor at all times, even during sleep. • Avoid wetting the Holter monitor, and do not take a shower while wearing the monitor. • You will be informed of the instruction of what to do in case you want to have a shower. • Write down symptoms you have, particularly fluttering or skipped heartbeats, chest pain, and dizziness. What happens after the test? No special care required, you can return to your regular activities and diet (such as work, exercise and regular diet). When the heartbeat monitoring is complete, return the device and give your diary. The information from the device and your notes will be reviewed. A cardiologist will interpret the test and send their final impression to your healthcare provider.
